A group of 20 people toured the RiverConnect project area yesterday visiting key areas on the Rivers and floodplains between Shepparton and Mooroopna.  From the comfort of an air conditioned bus, participants learnt about the significance and activity of the Goulburn River, the importance of the newly formed fish way, the history of Reedy and Gemmills Swamp management and their significance to water quality and as valuable habitat. Guide, Leon Saunders also shared recollections and spoke about the important cultural significance of the Flats to many of our local Aboriginal families, while Cr Dennis Patterson provided some insight into historical European uses of the floodplain.
